Ness has invested heavily in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and trained staff and is able to make its facilities available to other organisations on a commercial basis.

There are three laboratories:

• Biochemistry
• Genetics
• Tissue

with technical support staff with high-speed information technology and internet access.

Ness offers its facilities on a commercial basis to companies and other organisations.  Depending on the project financial support is available under the Scottish Executive's SCORE programme.  The SCORE programme is designed to support projects jointly undertaken between public sector research bodies (such as the Ness Foundation) and Scottish SMEs.
