Genetics laboratory
The genetics laboratory is equipped for real-time PCR (polymerase chain
reaction).
PCR amplifies specific regions of a DNA strand such as a
single gene, part of a gene or a non-coding sequence.
The polymerase chain reaction is carried out in reaction tubes inserted into a thermal cycler which heats and cools the reaction tubes to the precise temperatures required for each step of the reaction.
Although extensively used for the research of the Ness Foundation, spare capacity is available for carrying out analysis for others on a commercial basis.
